Our nurse is part-time and is assisted by a healthcare assistant. Our Minor Illness nurse also specialises in the management of asthma/COPD.
They also give travel immunisations and advise, take cervical smears, dress wounds and give immunisations.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Please ring the main surgery number 01494 523211 and select option 3 between the hours of 8.30 and 15.30 on Monday to Friday to speak with the secretary if you have any queries about insurance forms, medical reports or referrals.
The midwives are based at Wycombe General Hospital and hold regular antenatal clinics at the surgery. They can be contacted on 01494 425172.
The nurses are based at the Oakridge Centre and perform general nursing duties in the home for the elderly and housebound. They can be contacted on 0844 225 2404.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
